Source: Albuquerque Journal, N.self storageM.Aug. 16--Peter Frampton is still blazing his own trail. The legendary guitar player has pulled some strings and gathered together some of music's most prolific guitar players for his "Frampton's Guitar Circus" tour. The tour is headlined by Frampton, of course, but he's invited players such as Robert Cray, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Steve Lukather, Mike McCready, David Hidalgo, Vince Gill, Rick Nielsen, Sonny Landreth and B.B. King to be part of his show."This is a show that hasn't been done before," he says during a recent interview. "The TV show 'Crossroads' has done something like this but never really crossed genres with guitar players."The tour kicked off earlier this summer with Cray and Shepherd joining Frampton. The current leg of the tour will feature King and Landreth."I just met Sonny and B.B. for the first time the other day," he says. "It was a special meeting because I've been fans of theirs for so long and now I get to share the stage with them."After more than 35 years in the music business, Frampton says he wanted to do the show because he realized he hadn't worked with some of these artists."We are in the same industry, but our paths don't cross that often," he says. "I wanted to put together a show that showcases the guitar players."Frampton says he was stumped about how to follow the mega success of his "Frampton Comes Alive 35th Anniversary Tour.""I realized that after touring nonstop for two years on that tour, I didn't want to do a show by myself," he says. "I was able to find four artists that would tour with me the entire way and then add guests for the night."For die-hard Frampton fans, he is qu迷你倉ck to reassure that there will be plenty of his hits on tap during his set.Frampton rose to fame with hits such as "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Breaking All the Rules," "Show Me the Way," "Do You Feel Like We Do" and "I'm in You." His album "Frampton Comes Alive" in 1976 was a huge hit and sold more than 6 million copies in the United States."It's interesting to look back at my career and remember that I wrote 'Show Me the Way' and 'Baby, I Love Your Way' in the same afternoon," he says. "That was a great day."Frampton often feels like he should do more."I've been driven since I was 8 and pursued music intently," he says. "I've also been lucky to have the successes that I've had. I know it's all about having talent, but there's some luck thrown into there. I've had some very high points and some low points."Frampton says after his current tour he will put the finishing touches on the music he's composed for the Cincinnati Ballet."I've composed some original and new pieces for them to accompany some of my old songs," he says. "That is what's on my plate right now. After this tour, I've been so into the blues music I've been hearing that I may try my hand at a blues album. It's been something I've always wanted to do and now I feel like I can pull it off."'Frampton's Guitar Circus'Featuring Peter Frampton, B.B.
