Source: Appeal-Democrat, Marysville, Calif.迷你倉Sept. 13--The Marysville Police Department has changed the parking rules in the boat dock lot at Beckwourth Riverfront Park to accommodate boaters and soccer players.Parking was an issue last weekend with boaters trying to get on the Feather River for salmon fishing and soccer players also having a large event.The first row of parking -- eight spaces -- just east of the restrooms is now designated for vehicle with boat trailer parking only. This weekend, there will be barricades in place with signs designating these specified parking areas until permanent signs are installed.Parking is available within the gated areas of the soccer fields, the overflow parking just outside the soccer field gates, some spaces at the boat dock parking lot, the softball fields' parking lot and the designated overflow parking near the Cotton Rosser Pavilion. Signs will be posted designating the overflow parking areas.The Police Department reminds motorists the use the designated parking areas and that parking off the road is prohibited.Yuba-SutterBe alert for animalsThe California Transportation Department and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife remind motorists to remain alert while driving during Watch Out for Wildlife Week from Monday-Sept. 22."It's important that motorists, when driving through areas frequented by deer, elk and other animals, do all they can to protect themselves as well as some of California's greatest natural resources -- our wildlife," said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty.The California Highway Patrol reported more than 1,800 wildlife-vehicle collisions in 2010. About $1 billion in property damage is also caused by these incidents. The Defenders of Wildlife, a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting native animals and plants, reports more than 200 people are killed in collisions with deer, elk and other wildlife.Caltrans and Fish and Wildlife offer tips for motorists:--Be particularly alert when driving in wildlife areas.--If you see an animal cross the road, know that another may be following.--Don't litter. It could entice animals to venture onto the road.Butte County14 cases of West NileButte County has 14 cases of West Nile virus, more that it had last year, county Public Health said.Butte health officer Dr. Mark Lundberg said mosquito activity will continue through October and people are urged to protect 文件倉hemselves against the insect's bites.Since 2004, seven people have died of West Nile in Butte, but none so far this year.Yuba CountyBrown Bag giveaway setThe Yuba County Brown Bag giveaway, coordinated by the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners, is set at several locations in the community.Locations and dates include:Marysville: 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Sampson Street and Rideout Way.Brownsville: 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at 8408 La Porte Road.Wheatland: 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Sept. 24 at New Harvest Church, Highway 65 and Fourth Street.For more information, call the Gleaners at 673-3834.Yuba CityTake levee site tourPeople are invited to attend tours of the Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency's Feather River west levee project construction on Sept. 21.Construction crews, which started working around the clock in July on a one-mile segment of levee, are installing slurry walls designed to block the flow of water under and through the levee. The construction site includes the location of the 1955 levee break that caused a major flood and 38 deaths.Tours will be conducted by bus, so no special attire is required. Each tour will last about 45 minutes and is limited to 15 participants.
