Source: Jordan Times, AmmanDec.儲存倉 10--AMMAN -- The Tafileh Tourism Development Plan was launched jointly by the interior and tourism ministries in Tafileh on Monday.The development plan is the result of a joint initiative between the two ministries and the USAID Economic Growth Through Sustainable Tourism Project to improve tourism services, while the EU is also supporting its implementation through the contribution of funds, according to a USAID statement sent to The Jordan Times.Developed in coordination with the local community, the initiative will provide grants and technical assistance to tourism enterprises. It is part of ongoing efforts to develop tourist sites and ensure that local communities benefit directly from tourism, which is a major contributor to the economy, the statement said."We look forward to starting.... implementation of this comprehensive action plan in order to see the direct impacts on the lives of the local community in Tafileh. Through this initiative an important developmental milestone has been achieved by the both the ministry and our partners and supporters," Governor Raed Al Adwan noted."The plan aims to draw on available resources to work towards improving the standard of living of citizens and implement sustainable development projects which will raise the level of economic and social services and ensure job opportunities for the local community in Tafileh governorate," added Adwan, who spoke on behalf of the interior minister.Delivering the keynote speech at the launch, Tourism Ministry Secretary General Issa Gammoh highlighted the tourism sector's "enormous potential to increase economic returns and create jobs for the local community"."This plan is effective and inclusive of all tourism components, most important of which are human resources. These will help to prolong the length of stay of tourists and increase spending while its prevalence of tourist attractions and important historic sites will pu迷你倉最平 Tafileh on the tourism map," the statement quoted Gammoh as saying.Ambassador Joanna Wronecka, head of the EU Delegation to Jordan, agreed.Noting that "this development plan will undoubtedly put the Governorate of Tafileh on the Jordan Tourism map," she added that "the participation of the population of Tafileh will be critical for success.""Promoting Local Economic Development in Jordan -- PLEDJ" is a five-year project funded by the EU that supports the government's development goal to reduce unemployment and regional disparities.Monday's launch marks the start for all stakeholders to begin cooperating to translate the plan into action by identifying tourism as a key component of the economy that currently supports more than 15 per cent of the total number of jobs, the statement said.The aim is to develop community-based tourism enterprises that can create jobs for the local community and increase tourists' length of stay. It will also enhance the products and services of existing enterprises within the local communities to support their development."The Tafileh Tourism Development Plan is a living document; the contribution of all stakeholders is important for the success of this action plan.
